To promote the launch of the English Premier League on Optus Sports, we invited Australian sports fans to discover their English Premier League (EPL) heritage and identify the team they were born to support.

In collaboration with Ancestry Australia, ‘Fancestry’ was a digital platform that analysed users’ surnames against 20 billion records using a sophisticated algorithm to determine their ancestors’ geographical and historical connection to a team, which they then inherited.

Users who discovered their team through ‘Fancestry’ could share a custom face-painted Facebook profile image and unlock a 14-day trial of the live and exclusive Premier League coverage on Optus Sport. Users were also provided with the times and dates when their new team were playing.
